At the hospital

We checked in yesterday at 3 p.m. to be induced. As of today, I'm 4 centimeters, 80 percent effaced, epidural in place and waiting! The epidural provided great relief to the aweful back pain I experienced most of the night. Hope to have our little girl in our arms before dinner time!

Due Date!

Today is my due date - HA - she's still swimming around inside. I know the day is not over, but I have a feeling she's not going to make her appearance today. My doctor wont' let me carry her past 10 days from now. For fun - reply with y0ur guess of the time of day and day she'll finally decide to meet us.

39 Week Appointment

WELL....Nothing new to report - same dialation and effacement as last week. The doctor could feel her head - so she's down and ready! Pray that we'll find some dry patches the next few so we can walk and get things moving.

On a different note, my car started smoking as I was pulling out of the hospital garage. We think it might be clutch related. Yuck! So it's at the car doctor in hopes for a quick fix. Dave had to pull the "my wife is due Monday" card when he called - as they were booked up. Pray for a speedy recovery for our "milk truck"!

Week 38 Appointment

We had our 38 Week appointment this afternoon. On par with the last visit with this doctor (our doctor is in Scotland this week), we had a nice 90 minute wait. He's known for being thorough with his patients, which is great, but makes him notoriously late...especially at the end of the day. The appointment was awesome. My blood pressure was great and I'm showing signs of progression towards labor - yeah :) I'm 1 cm. dialated and 70% effaced. He confirmed I've dropped and was happy to share that our baby's head is sitting very low and in position for labor. His prediction for our baby's weight is 7 1/2 lbs (final weight). I like his prediction much better :) So now it's your turn to chime in - how much will baby girl Coe weigh? Winner gets a prize!

T-2 Weeks

Wow - we're only 2 weeks away from our due date. The weeks are passing quickly now. We had an appointment on Friday. Things are slowly progressing - but no dialation yet. We asked our doctor to predict the baby's weight, and her guess is healthy upper 7 lb. baby. She assured us she won't grow much more these last few weeks...phew...the idea of popping out anything above 8 lbs. doesn't sound fun!

For the first time Friday morning, I woke up retaining fluid - boo hoo! My ankles, fingers and face were a bit swollen. Luckily my blood pressure remains remains good - so it's truly just fluid retention. Sadly though, with the fast, overnight onset, I missed the window to get my wedding ring off. I had just taken it off earlier in the week with no problem. We tried every trick known to man (Windex, ice, lotion, vegetable oil, etc.) to get it off Friday and Saturday with no luck. Afraid that I might swell more these next few weeks, we opted to have our jeweler cut it off. I have to admit that I feel naked without my ring, but relieved that it won't cost me a finger :)!

There is little left to be done before our little girl arrives. The car seat is installed, bags are now 99% packed and her swing and bouncy seat are assembled. The pack-n-play is the only item still in it's box. I'm sure we've jinxed ourselves by getting everything ready - now she'll make us wait, wait and wait some more to meet her.

Love and hugs to you all!

37 Week Belly!

T-3 Weeks

Here were are ... 3 weeks from due date. There is not much new to report. I'm feeling well and am happy to report that I can still see my ankles :) I have to admit, I feel extremely fortunate to have experienced the milder temperatures so far this summer! Sleeping is getting more uncomfortable, but that's to be expected at this stage. We have a few projects left to complete before our little girl arrives: installing her car seat (and inspection at the fire department), putting together the pack-n-play, swing and bouncy chair and packing for the hospital. Our labor "goodie bag" is packed, but my post-partum bag is only half packed. We'll probably spend some time this week to get these final items completed. Dave will be posting an updated picture later today (he promised me!), so check back!

36 Week Appointment

Labor, labor, labor was the theme at our doctor's office on Friday. Apparently it's the "norm" for multiple patients to deliver on the eve of a work holiday. Of 5 doctors in our practice, only 1 was available to see patients as the others were busy in labor and delivery. When we arrived, we were first told that our wait would be an hour and half. Luckily we had dinner plans and they squeezed us in early to get us out in time. Given the time crunch the doctor was under (he also was going to be leaving soon to do his 3rd c-section of the day .... and still had 1/2 dozen patients to see), he only did a quick check - blood pressure, heart rate and belly measurement. All checked perfectly... I avoided my first internal exam. So no updates this week on early labor signs. He did confirm that small bursts of stomach pain I've been experiencing in isolated areas are considered Braxton Hicks, so my body is starting to prepare. Stay tuned! Oh, and Happy 4th!!
